Frequently Asked Questions
What to expect
SIA-Specialty Infusion Apothecary recognizes the challenges associated with handling complex chronic illness. SIA’s clinical team is here to support you and make the process stress free from start to finish so all you have to do is come for your appointment.
In advance of scheduling your appointment
SIA’s team of insurance specialists will start the process of initiating or transitioning your treatment to our medical infusion center. We will review your coverage and benefits to ensure you have the lowest possible out of pocket costs.
Your physician will send a prescription, clinical notes, demographics, and insurance information. Next a member of the clinical team will contact your insurance company to investigate your benefits and begin an authorization, if needed, to ensure coverage of your treatment.
If a prior authorization is needed the clinical team works to expedite the process and will keep you informed. Once we receive approval the team will reach out to schedule an appointment that is convenient for you.
Preparation for Treatment
Starting the day before and the day of your infusion be sure to adequately hydrate to make it easier for the medical professional to place your IV.
Wear short sleeves or a shirt with sleeves that are easy to roll up.
Complimentary WIFI and flat screen tv’s in each suite are made available.
While we offer snacks, beverages and take out from local eateries, you may want to bring your own.
We can also make available other therapeutic treatments by appointment only (e.g., reflexology) during your medical infusion, if this is of interest to you
For the consideration of all patients, it is important to be on time for your scheduled appointment. If you are experiencing delays, please call us at 561-955-7079, so we can adjust the schedule accordingly.
From the moment you enter SIA one of the members of the clinical team will escort you to your private suite and get you comfortable in your reclining massage chair.
Next after ensuring normal vitals, your medical professional will initiate your IV insertion or injection. Pre-medications will be administered, and labs will be drawn from your IV, if applicable. Numbing spray is available prior to IV insertion. Please let your medical professional know if you would like the spray.
All medications are mixed onsite by one of the medical professionals after IV insertion.
Your vitals will be taken periodically throughout your infusion and you will be monitored closely for your safety by a medical professional. Time of infusion varies depending on medication prescribed. The infusion treatment can range from 30 minutes to 5 hours. Injections take a few minutes with a 30 minutes monitoring period by a medical professional afterwards.
While uncommon, reactions to infusions can occur, SIA’s medical team is trained to treat any kind of infusion reaction and will monitor you closely.
One of our team of medical professionals are always here to answer questions, address concerns and provide a safe and comfortable “spa” like infusion experience.
After Treatment completion
After your infusion is performed one of the members of the medical team will take a last set of vitals and take out your IV. It is recommended to maintain pressure on the dressing to decrease the chance of bruising at the site.
After the infusion, if there are no contra-indications to normal activity, you may leave and continue on with your day as usual.
